Product Description
Our sintered wire mesh filter cartridge is made from multiple layers of stainless steel mesh, typically a 5-layer construction, diffusion-bonded under high temperature and pressure. The rigid structure provides stable filtration from 1 to 200 μm, high strength, excellent permeability, and repeatable cleaning. 316L sintered metal filters are suitable for polymer melt filtration, hydraulic oil return lines, water and gas filtration, and chemical processing. Custom candle, pleated, disc, basket, and other filter element geometries are available according to your drawing.

Grade Table: 5-Layer Laminate Construction
A 5-layer sintered mesh panel is not one screen - it is five layers diffusion bonded at every wire crossing: a protective layer, the filtration layer, a dispersion layer and two reinforcing layers. The filtration layer sets the rating; the two Dutch-weave layers carry the pressure.
| Structure code | Filtration layer (mesh) | Nominal rating (um) | Thickness (mm) | Air permeability (L/min.cm2) | Bubble point (mm H2O) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| A5-1 | 400 x 2800 | 1 | 1.7 | 1.81 | 360 - 600 |
| A5-2 | 325 x 2300 | 2 | 1.7 | 2.35 | 300 - 590 |
| A5-5 | 200 x 1400 | 5 | 1.7 | 2.42 | 260 - 550 |
| A5-10 | 165 x 1400 | 10 | 1.7 | 3.00 | 220 - 500 |
| A5-15 | 165 x 1200 | 15 | 1.7 | 3.41 | 200 - 480 |
| A5-20 | 165 x 800 | 20 | 1.7 | 4.50 | 170 - 450 |
| A5-25 | 165 x 600 | 25 | 1.7 | 6.12 | 150 - 410 |
| A5-40 | 325 | 40 | 1.7 | 6.86 | 100 - 350 |
| A5-50 | 250 | 50 | 1.7 | 8.41 | 90 - 300 |
| A5-100 | 150 | 100 | 1.7 | 9.10 | 70 - 190 |
Standard panel sizes are 500 x 1000 mm, 1000 x 1000 mm and 1200 x 1200 mm; nominal weight is 8.4 kg/m2 for a 5-layer and 14.4 kg/m2 for a 6-layer laminate. Panels, discs, tubes and pleated cartridges are formed from the same laminate, so the rating you validate on a flat sample is the rating you get in a cartridge.
Field Reference: High-Pressure Reusable Service
Five-layer laminate is chosen where a wire mesh element has to survive pressure reversal repeatedly. Reported duty windows: hydraulic and lube loops at 10-31.5 MPa with backwash or ultrasonic cleaning between campaigns; high-temperature gas and steam at up to 500 C continuous; and polymer and resin service where surface filtration keeps the cake removable.
The practical advantage over a woven cloth of the same rating is not filtration accuracy but rigidity: because every wire crossing is diffusion bonded, the pore geometry does not shift under pulsation, so the rating measured on a sample does not drift under repeated cleaning. Confirm it against your own cycle count rather than a catalogue figure.

Frequently Asked Questions
What materials are used for sintered wire mesh filters?
Standard materials include SS304, SS304L, SS316, and SS316L stainless steel. Common configurations include 5-layer, 6-layer, and 7-layer sintered mesh. For corrosive applications, we also supply Monel, Hastelloy, duplex steel, and Inconel alloys. All materials can be supplied with Mill Test Certificates (MTC) upon request.
What is your lead time for filter elements?
For items in stock, we can arrange shipment within 3–5 working days after payment confirmation. For non-stock or customized products (including metal custom filter elements), lead time is handled case by case depending on order quantity, specification complexity, and current production schedule. Exact delivery time will be confirmed in the proforma invoice per inquiry.
What connection types are available?
We offer standard connections including threaded (NPT/BSPT/G), flange, tri-clamp, and plain/weld-end interfaces. Custom flanges, special fittings, and multi-element assemblies can also be manufactured according to your drawings.
What are the key characteristics of sintered wire mesh filters?
These filters feature a metallurgically bonded structure, providing high strength and resistance to deformation under pressure. They support various cleaning methods—such as backflushing, ultrasonic cleaning, and chemical cleaning—allowing for repeated use. With a filtration rating from 1 to 200 microns and continuous temperature resistance up to 500°C (SS316L), they are suitable for hydraulic systems, polymer filtration, and water treatment applications.
